Diary of a Fly

Today we read Diary of a Fly by Doreen Cornin. It's a fun book about a fly who documents his day in his diary. We have been working on summarizing what we do and building the skills necessary for retelling stories and events. We are starting small, with little summarizing sentences (ie,"I played a game with my friend."). Today we made ourselves into flies, and tomorrow we will do a diary entry into our very own Fly Diaries!

We worked with ovals and circles to create our flies, then Ms. B laminated our "Diary" page so that we can either dictate our entries, or write them ourselves, in expo marker each day!  Check back tomorrow for our first entry! (Don't want to miss a post? Sign up to have the blog sent directly to your email after each posting. Enter your email address to the right of the screen).

First we painted our circles and ovals....

Then we glued them together to make our fly.

Our flies are complete! They are hanging with our laminated Diary Page which we will write on tomorrow!
